Ok so I’m 14. I’m fixing to sell my 32 gb iPad that I have only had for two months, for $450. It will include original box and accessories and 3 cases, including the portfolio genuin apple case. That was $39. Anyways I want to surprise my family with some gifts. My dad will get a knock off iPod touch because he dosent care if it’s name brand or not…. The price will be $95. He will also get a waterproof camera which will be $102…. I think. He will ALSO Get, a speaker for the knock of mp3 player which will be about $19 and finally he will get a bass shirt which might be $ 20, I want to get my mom a cheap (but name brand ) 15 inch laptop with webcam, and a 32 gb 1st gen iPad. I want to get my aunt a 32gb 1st gen iPad as well, with a $90 Kodak camera. She will also get a $20 case. So I have $379 altogether right now. I am fixing to sell my iPad and my mp4 player to buy the iPad 2. Then I will work on paying for there gifts. How do you suppose I could make THAT Much money? When I’m only 14 and do you think it’s weird that I want to do this!

You dont have to get them something that costs money. It can be a simple card with thoughtful words inside of the card. Money shouldnt have to satifiy, its the thought that counts.
So you’re selling your 32 GB iPad for $450 and then you’ll get two iPads 32GB for your mom and aunt?
Thing is, if you sell and then buy you always (or at least almost always) make a loss. So why not rather give your mom or aunt your iPad and save up for another one for the other person you want to give an iPad to?
And no I don’t think it’s weird that you want to do this, although you being only 14 this might be a little over your head, not just because of the money but also because showering others with presents people who do that do this often for the wrong reasons. I’m not saying your reasons are wrong, what I’m saying is that you might want to talk this through with an adult who you know is living a life as a good person and can help you understand if this is the right thing to do or not. A pastor of a local church might help, although I found that there are pastors who just preach doing good but live their life the opposite. Or you could ask in here as a new question, in case you want to. Again, I’m not critiziing you, just trying to prevent you from getting into something that might in the end hurt you more than do good. I know you might ask “how can giving presents being something bad”, but it can happen to anyone and it’s best to know for sure you’re doing the right thing for the right reasons and you being a minor that others see it that way too, especially members of the family / relatives.
Oh and you might also want to say how long from now you want to give those presents, like tomorrow, next week, in a few months, …
And about getting your dad a knock-off iPod touch, I’m not sure that is advisable because of warranty issue and they might not work as great in the end and are more hassle than they’re worth it and they just laying around… unless you have personal experience with one or know somebody who does.
But so I’m not off-topic, how you could pay for these gifts, I guess doing chores for those in your family/relatives and maybe also neighbors. And try to find the best deals for your money, I paid $382 for an iPad 2 on igaddadeal.com but for selling your iPad you might want to try eBay but it’s always risky to sell things there IMO… because you’re 14 you’re not allowed to have a PayPal account and I’m not sure what the age restriction on eBay is.
I hope this helped any.
