You obviously haven’t been reading closely, dude. I’ll explain it to you, so you can appreciate the book because it’s definitely one of my favorites.
K, so Teddy is actually the guy he’s been chasing his entire life, since his wife died. He’s convinced the guy’s the killer, when actually the guy doesn’t exist. Teddy himself is the killer, and Teddy Daniels (his name) is actually the name of his alter ego.
The doctor, Chuck and the staff on Shutter Island are actually acting out so Teddy faces the truth that he killed his wife Dolores and Teddy has to admit that because if he doesn’t, if he stays delusional, he will be sent to shock therapy and Chuck and doctor don’t want that.
Chuck is actually a doctor, too, and he plays the marshal according to Teddy’s imagination.
Rachel Solando, if you rearrange her name, it comes out Dolores — Teddy’s wife’s name.
The real story, one that’s revealed in the end is that Dolores went crazy one day and she drowned all three children in a the lake and afterwards she walks over to Teddy, her husband, and sat next to him and told him she killed their children and Teddy breaks down and kills her. That’s why Teddy’s patient 67 (or 68, I forgot) on Shutter Island. He’s a patient there, a delusional killer.
Hope I helped. The book is awesome
